Main Responsibilities of E.C.H.O. Unit

Quality of Life/Community Policing - We strive to maintain the standards of our community in areas that affect most of the people most of the time.  This encompasses the "Broken Windows Theory," which states if small problems are addressed, it prevents larger crimes from occurring.  As Bike Patrol Officers. we are well versed in both City and State Codes and have an excellent working relationship with businesses and citizens alike.  Bike Patrol Officers are problem solvers and maintain a strong presence in our city parks, schools, and at various City events.

Crime Free Complexes - The Bicycle Patrol has partnered with participating apartment complexes/high density housing throughout the City.   We perform extra patrols,  work hand in hand with managers, and enforce City codes and Utah law in an effort to keep crime out of these complexes.

Homelessness - We actively seek to meet people experiencing homelessness, and teach them about multiple community resources, including community partners at the Switchpoint Community Resource Center.  Information is also provided to newcomers about local ordinances to help mitigate future criminal issues.
